Stampin' Up! Australia - Stampin' Up! Hello Lovely with Faux Patina

Dear Stampin' friends,

Well I tried a new technique this week and it went kinda wrong and then it went kinda right! LOL

The new technique is called Faux Patina whereby you sponge ink on an embossed piece of cardstock and distress it a bit, then do some metallic embossing in a random way over the top.

I think this actually comes out a lot better with darker colours but since the colours for Dynamic Duos this week are Crisp Canteloupe and Calypso Coral, I thought I would use those and see what happened. The original outcome looked a bit like '1970's drug den wallpaper"....a little bit yuck.....but I trimmed it down just to cover the bottom third of the card and a little bit looks better than an entire card front. I flipped the remaining 2/3rd and sponged it with Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral & Crisp Canteloupe and splattered some Gold Smooch spritz over it too.

The card looks much much better in real life and it is kinda growing on me even though it is not my usual style.

  2. This technique looks great on your embossing and I'm sure even greater in person. I've never tried this one but do have it on my list for some day!
