Festive Friday Challenge #47 - Glimmer and Gold

Hi

For the Festive Friday Challenge this week, our challenge was to use this image as inspiration:

I decided to use the gold and the glimmery snowflake as the colour inspiration for my card....and the Christmas ornament as the main focus.....I came up with this:

I embossed the greeting in gold onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and punched out an ornament shape. The gold embossed cardstock layer is the Stampin' Up! Brushed Gold cardstock....it is gorgeous!!! :)
I also used my BRAND NEW STAMPIN' TRIMMER!! It is the best trimmer I have ever had....place an order for one without delay! It is $49.95! :)
  Materials used:
Stamps - Greetings of the Season
Ink - Versamark, Gold Embossing Powder
Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Champagne Glimmer Paper, Naturals Ivory, Brushed Gold
Accessories - Linen Thread, Pearl
Tools - Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Ornament Punch, Heat Tool, Merry Minis Punch Pack (star), Multipurpose Liquid Glue, SNAIL, dimensionals.

Festive Fridays #45 - Stampin' Up! Merry Minis Punch Pack

Hi

This week's Festive Friday Challenge is a colour challenge to use Midnight Muse, Baja Breeze, Basic Grey and Whisper White. They are beautiful colours together.....Midnight Muse really sets the tone for a bold and elegant card.....SO gorgeous!

I used the Merry Minis Punch Pack for my glimmer ornaments....I have TONNES of scraps of glimmer paper laying about as a result of making Snow Flurry die snowflakes and other glimmery projects so if you are plagued with the same problem....BUY THE MERRY MINIS PUNCH PACK!!!! (preferably from ME!  LOL!). You will be able to make heaps of Christmas Cards with them and use up all your scraps. WIN WIN!

The embossed background is the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and I used the 'puffy' side up to create a softer looking background....it looks quilted & beautiful! :)

The sentiment is from "Greetings of the Season" from the Holiday Catalogue....a gorgeous set of large sentiments that would look great on any Christmas card!

Materials used:
Stamps - Greetings of the Season
Ink - Midnight Muse, Basic Grey (for sponging)
Cardstock - Midnight Muse, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Silver Glimmer Paper
Accessories -  3/16" Metallic Pewter Brads
Tools - Merry Minis Punch Pack, Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Dynamic Duos #26 - Stampin' Up! Two by Two Baby Card

Hello

Today's card for Dynamic Duos is a baby card using Stampin' Up's Two by Two stamp. It is SOOOO CUTE! Love it to bits!

I thought that the colour combination of More Mustard and So Saffron would be perfect for a gender-neutral baby card.

I watercoloured the image using Basic Grey for the elephants, More Mustard & So Saffron for both giraffes and lions, So Saffron for the birds and butterflies and Crumb Cake for the ark.

I now wish that I'd left the framelit without the brads....it's such a perfect & pleasing  shape - I now feel that the brads detract from the image. Oh well....

Please visit the design team to see how they used this week's challenge colours and I hope you will join us this week! :)

Materials used:
Stamp - Two By Two
Ink - More Mustard, So Saffron, Basic Grey, Crumb Cake, Stazon
Cardstock - Watercolour paper, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Crumb Cake DSP
Accessories - So Saffron brads, Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon
Tools - Big Shot, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Paper Piercing Pack, Aquapainter, Dimensionals, SNAIL, Paper Trimmer

Dynamic Duos #25 - Stampin' Up! Memorable Moments

Hi!Here is my third card as Guest Designer for Dynamic Duos this month. Bold colour challenge this week and even though they are obvious Halloween colours I thought I would have a go at a birthday card for a friend of mine who is turning 30 soon (hopefully she isn't reading this blog as I've just ruined her surprise card!!!)

The "dessert option" this week is die-cuts so I used the matching Framelits to the Memorable Moments 'frame' stamp. I also used a little trick that I learned from the lovely and very generous Tanya Bell who in this blog post demonstrates how to make a small frame around a framelit. I played around with my Labels Collection Framelit (the size above the Memorable Moments stamp framelit) and got a nice little border. :)

Materials used:
Stamps - Memorable Moments
Ink - Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Cardstock - Whisper White, Basic Black, Champagne Glimmer paper, Pumpkin Pie Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper
Accessories - Pumpkin Pie brads
Tools - Paper Cutter, SNAIL, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Big Shot, Labels Collection Framelits, Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Paper Piercing Pack

Festive Fridays - Stampin' Up! Ornament Keepsakes

Hi

At the Festive Friday Challenge this week, Nicole has set a very versatile sketch for us to work with. I was going to do a polka dot background, but I've only just got the En Francais stamp set and my heat tool and I was keen to break these things out.

I embossed some Whisper White with white embossing powder using the En Francais stamp. Then I sponged over the cardstock with Gumball Green, Marina Mist, Midnight Muse and Frost White Shimmer Paint. I got this combo straight out of the Color Coach....they are very pretty together.

The Ornament Keepsakes stamp set is stunning....and with the matching Framelits you can't go wrong. I have a feeling I shall be using it for heaps of Christmas projects this year.

I used the beautiful Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon on the card as it matched my ornament....remember that this month, with every $60 spent, you get a roll of Stitched Satin Ribbon for free! Email me with your order! :)

I hope you will share some of your projects with us at the Festive Friday Challenge - it is a great sketch - there are so many possibilities!! :)

Cheers
Alison

Dynamic Duos #24 - Stampin' Up Love & Sympathy

Hi!

This is my second card as this month's Guest Designer for Dynamic Duos. I just LOVE these colours together.

There has, quite unfortunately, been a run of sympathy card demand recently and I never seem to have them on hand when I need them or if someone at work needs one. The soft, subtle colours of this challenge seemed to channel a sympathy card, plus I had recently acquired Stampin' Up!'s 'Love and Sympathy' stamp set and I was hoping to get the opportunity to ink it up sooner rather than later.

The background DSP on this card is a piece of patterned paper from Spice Cake, which sadly is retired now but the colours on this sheet are Pool Party, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla which was absolutely perfect for this card. When I laid it down onto the base, it looked too 'bright' for a sympathy card, so I did a vellum overlay and it softened it immediately......I will have to remember that trick for next time. I adhered the corners of the vellum with mini glue dots and covered them with the larger pearl from the SU Pearls pack.

Please have a look at the beautiful cards from the Dynamic Duos Design Team below....there will be plenty of inspiration and no excuse not to join in with us this week!! :)

Materials used:
Stamp - Love and Sympathy
Ink - Pool Party, Soft Suede
Cardstock - Very Vanilla (smooth and textured CS), Soft Suede,
Spice Cake Designer Series Paper (retired), White vellum paper
Accessories - Pearls
Tools - Paper Cutter, SNAIL, Dimensionals, Stamp-a-majig, Labels Collection Framelits, Big Shot, Mini Glue Dots.

Dynamic Duos #23 - Stampin' Up! Day of Gratitude

Hello!

This is my first card as this month's Guest Designer for Dynamic Duos. The challenge is to use Tangerine Tango and Old Olive. Since these are lovely autumnal colours, I thought I would use the main stamp from Day of Gratitude.

I heat embossed some watercolour paper with Early Espresso embossing powder and then watercoloured the leaf image with Tangerine Tango on the outer leaves and Old Olive on the inner part. The colours blend quite beautifully and create a gold-ish tinge on the watercolour paper. I used an Antique Brad to finish off the middle and some Early Espresso Baker's Twine to wrap around the image panel. I mounted the whole thing onto a Very Vanilla Textured Cardstock base.

Hope you like my card and please come and play along at Dynamic Duos this week! I'd love to see what you create.

Cheers

Halloween Invitation - Stampin' Up! Toxic Treats

Hi!

This is one of the Halloween party invitations that I made with a friend of mine for her party. It is a CASE (Copy And Share Everything) of the invitation from page 25 of the current Holiday catalogue. We used the Toxic Treats Stamp Set and the Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Series Paper. The sentiment and the 'gate' are heat embossed with black embossing powder.

If you are wondering why the '20th' instead of the '31st'??? The Halloween party is on the 20th of October since Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year. :)

Stamp - Toxic Treats, Memorable Moments

Stampin' Up! Betsy's Blossoms - Wedding Card

Hi

This week's
Dynamic Duos challenge asks participants to team Cherry Cobbler with any colour of choice and the challenge at Less is More is for a card for "Love & Marriage".

Since the Stampin' Up! set is proving to be more than versatile, I though I would try it on a wedding card and I punched a heart out of the circle flower design while layering it over another corner stamped with the same image (hope that makes sense). The flower design is stamped in the top right hand corner also (to get the faded look, this was "stamped off" 3 times onto grid paper before stamping the cardstock). The card looked a little 'bare' so I used pearls of differing sizes to create little corners.

It is very simple...lots of white space....this cardstock is the new Naturals White which has small flecks through it and looks a little bit 'recycled' and groovy.

Before I show you the card, I have some very exciting news to share with you tomorrow...so make sure you come back and visit me!! :)

Hope you like my card....

Stamp Set - Betsy's Blossoms, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso

Stampin' Up! Pendant Park - Sympathy Card

Hi

Sadly, I had to make a sympathy card this week and I really didn't know where to start so I went with my weekly tradition of visiting the Dynamic Duos website and had a look at the Less is More challenge blog for inspiration.

My card is a "One Layer" card with some sponging using a Framelit as a template and the Pendant Park stamp set. Nice and simple.

The 'Less is More" challenge asked that participants use 3 of the previous challenges so I used In the Frame (wk 19), Green (wk 44) and Foliage (wk 84).

Materials used:
Stamp Set - Pendant Park, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Ink - Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Sahara Sand
Cardstock - Confetti White
Accessories - Pearls
Tools - Paper Cutter, SNAIL, Paper Piercing Pack - Festive, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Piercing Tool, Labels Collection Framelit, Sponge Dauber, Stamp-a-majig

Stampin' Up! Pennant Parade

Hello!

Here's my card for this week's Festive Friday Challenge!

I was a bit scared of this colour combo....what with the regals and everything, but I finally inked up Pennant Parade to use as a Christmas feature and I am also finally getting on the Framelits bandwagon :)

I only wish that I had the Festive Paper Piercing Pack from the Holiday Catalogue as I think some paper piercing around the perimeter of the vanilla Framelit would look ace! Lucky that I've got it coming in my next order....I may pull this card apart and re-do it. I shall show you a 'before' and 'after' if you like. :)

Hope you like my card!

Materials used
Stamps - Pennant Parade

Stampin' Up! Mixed Medley - The Artful Stampers Holiday Catalogue Blog Hop

Hello!

Hope that you've all been enjoying the gorgeousness of the Annual Catalogue. The Holiday Catalogue also went live on the 1st of September, but we thought we'd give you a couple of weeks to get into it before we bombarded you with the beautiful things the Holiday Catty brings!!!

So another Artful Stampers Blog Hop ~ this time to celebrate the Holiday Catalogue Launch!! You may have hopped here from
Anna Foster’s blog. I’m stop #6 on the hop and I’m glad you're here sharing in the fun!!

For my project today, I made a set of notecards using the very cute Mixed Medley Hostess stamp set and the matching 1 1/4 inch scallop punch. LOVING THIS SET and I can see myself using this scallop punch a lot as it layers perfectly with the 1 1/4 circle punch and the 1 3/4 scallop punch.

I used ALL the current In Colors + Basic Black (for my Halloween card)....and the best bit is this uses just ONE sheet of Whisper White cardstock - each card is 7cm x 14cm, scored at 7cm so you can get 6 cards out of one sheet!! How is that for thrifty!!!

Now click on the link to Nicole Derendorf’s blog for the next stop on our Hop. I am sure
you will find lots of wonderful ideas on Nicole’s blog to inspire you . If you get lost or there are broken links just pop back here for the full list of stampers taking part in this hop.

Stampin' Up - Day of Gratitude

Hello!

Now here in Australia, we don't celebrate 'Thanksgiving' but I know a couple of Americans through work and they have mentioned that they were interested in making some Thanksgiving cards with me, so I got 'Day of Gratitude' for that very purpose and I can really see it lending itself to some beautiful autumnal cards as well as 'Thanksgiving' ones.

This week's challenge at Dynamic Duos is to use Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke....pretty scary colours if you ask me!!!...but then again I don't do much in the 'Regals' palette. :)

There's also a fairly new product in this card......the scallop rectangle Clearlit - page 191 ($12.95)....very cool! :)

Materials used:
Stamp - Day of Gratitude
Ink - Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze
Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze
Accessories - Pearls, Victoria Crochet Trim, Regals Flower Brads (retired)
Tools - Big Shot, Scallop Rectangle Clearlit

Stampin' Up! Be of Good Cheer DSP ornament

Hello!!

Are you still digesting all the gorgeousness from the new catalogues? Mine are just littered with post-it notes and an ever growing wish-list!!!

Today I want to show you some an ornament that I made with the 'Be of Good Cheer' Designer Series Paper from the 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue....the beautiful bold prints make this the perfect Christmas paper for all your seasonal projects!

For the Festive Friday Challenge this week, Nicole asked us to used Designer Series Paper in a more 'unconventional' way...not just putting it flat on a card.....so I went completely 3D!!!! Way out of my comfort zone I might add! :)

Here is the first version.....

....and here is the blinged version with extra ribbon and embellishments....the rhinestone tag at the bottom was made using 10 rhinestones over some white bakers twine and facing them towards eachother to make 5 'beads' (a little trick I learned at the Stampin' Up! Convention earlier this year).

This ornament is made up of 60 individual origami petals....yes SIXTY!! Each flower is made up of 5 petals joined together, then the ornament itself is 12 of these flowers assembled & interlocked. It took me FOREVER!!! :) Most of the work is in the folding of the petals and glueing these little guys together....the rest is fairly straightforward with the help of some Stampin' Up! sticky strip and a whole heap of patience!

If you would like the tutorial for this ornament, just email me and I'll send it to you.

Hope you like my festive piece of origami!! :)

Materials used:

Stamps - NONE!

Ink - NONE!
Paper - Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper
Accessories - Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon, Cherry Cobbler Scallop Dots Ribbon, Victoria Crochet Trim, Antique Brad, Rhinestones, Whisper White Baker's Twine
Tools - Paper Trimmer, Bone Folder (VERY IMPORTANT), Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Sticky Strip, Paper Piercing Tool, paper clips

Edited 23/8/15 - I have been inundated with requests for instructions on how to make this ornament so the pdf is here.

I absolutely cannot take any credit for it as it is a Kaisercraft one. Hope you have fun making the flowers....it is very time consuming but well worth it... :)
Just some tips...I found that SNAIL did not bond the petal folds together...they kept coming undone. It is better to use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue and then get a paperclip to hold them together. While they are bonding, you can be folding the next lot of 'petals' for the next flower. When it comes time to assemble the flower using your 5 petals AND assembling the ornament using your twelve flowers....sticky strip seems to be the best adhesive. It is strong enough and provides good bonding - the end product is quite heavy so you need something that will stick! :)

Cheers

Stampin' Up! - Betsy's Blossoms Christmas Wreath

Hello Stampin' friends
For this week's Dynamic Duos challenge, it was a 'bold and sassy' week so the colours were Poppy Parade and Lucky Limeade.

I decided to do a Christmas card using my favourite stamp set of the moment, "Betsy's Blossoms" from the new 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue. This set is so versatile....I think you could use it for just about anything!!

I went with a very 'clean and simple' design. I did have to try very hard not to add too much....the stark design is growing on me :)

I made another card (see next image) along similar lines and I added more stamps and a sentiment banner. Not sure which one I like best. Leave me a comment and let me know which you prefer and why.....I'd love to know your thoughts. :)

Materials used:
Stamps - Betsy's Blossoms (leaf stamp), Topsy-Turvy Celebrations (bow stamp), Delightful Decorations ("snowflake" stamp on 2nd card), Curly Cute (sentiment stamp on 2nd card)
Ink - Lucky Limeade and Poppy Parade
Cardstock - Whisper White - textured and smooth
Accessories - Dazzling Diamonds (on snowflakes in 2nd card)
Tools - Paper Cutter, SNAIL, Bone Folder, Dimensionals, 2-way glue pen (for Dazzling Diamonds).
