Stampin' Up! Australia - Stampin' Up! Wondrous Wreath Thanksgiving card

Hi

Welcome to this week's Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.

I used the colour palette from ColourQ and quite liked the idea of exploring non-traditional Thanksgiving colours.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia so I only have the one Thanksgiving greeting which is unfortunately retired, but Wondrous Wreath (a current set) makes for a lovely Thanksgiving statement and I think it works beautifully in these colours. :)

I do have several American friends who celebrate Thanksgiving so this card will be going to one of them. :)

Here is our sketch....

Here are the colours from Colour Q...

Card recipe

Stamp - Wondrous Wreath, Day of Gratitude
Ink - Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder, Tangerine Tango, Soft Sky
Cardstock - Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry
Tools - Stampin' Trimmer, Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL, Glue Dots, Big Shot,
Wonderful Wreath Framelit Dies, Precision Plate
Accessories - Metal Rimmed Pearls

I hope you will join in and create a card with us.....and please feel free to leave me and the other CCMC participants some comments! :)

Cheers

Stampin' Up! Long Fellows - ColourQ Colour Challenge #140

Hello!

Today's card is brought to you by the creative colours on offer at the ColourQ Colour Challenge #140. Here is the glorious colour palette....

...and here's my card...

I actually made 2 versions of this card....one for a very dear friend of mine who moved away some time ago and is working herself to the bone and didn't really get a chance to enjoy her birthday....and to top it all off I forgot to send her a card.....I am a 'bad friend'!! I phoned her though and we had a lovely long chat. I miss her dearly and I hope she gets through this tough period of work.

The 2nd card is for another Stampin' Up! demonstrator Rochelle Blok. Rochelle is on the Facebook page 'ESAD' which is a Stampin' Up! demonstrator-only group where we share stories, exchange ideas & offer advice to each other....it is a beautiful sisterhood of Stampin' Up! demonstrators and one of the many ways that we support one another and offer encouragement. One of the things that we do is send each other birthday cards, but I was so caught up in the Convention the other week that I forgot poor Rochelle's card.

Given that both cards are for belated birthdays, I used the gorgeous image from the Stampin' Up! Long Fellows stamp set. Unfortunately, the set is retired....as it was a hostess set from the 2010-2011 catalogue....it enforces the fact that if you see hostess set in a catalogue, you'd better snap them up as they are often the best stamps in the catalogue and never-to-be-repeated. I love this set...I will never part with it!! :)

Take care & Happy Stampin'!!
Cheers

ColourQ Colour Challenge #134 - Stampin' Up! Medallion

Hi again

I have been wanting to create a card for a colour challenge for a while now and I saw this challenge over at ColourQ and thought I'd give it a go.

The colours looked really hard to work with when I first saw it but when I laid out the Bravo Burgundy, Calypso Coral & Pumpkin Pie next to one another.... they seemed to work....now just how to wrangle that Pool Party fellow......

To get this image, I took my Calypso Coral inkpad and used the edge of it to ink the centre of the pad, I made a little coverage of ink in the shape of a square, then rotated the stamp and did it again...this gave me an octagon type shape of ink over the centre of the medallion. I then got the pumpkin pie ink pad and, again using the edge of it, dragged ink from the edge of my Calypso Coral octagon towards the edge. The idea is to blend so don't worry if you start to lose the colour lines. I repeated all the way around the medallion stamp until it was covered to the edges in Pumpkin Pie. Using the Bravo Burgundy inkpad, I simply inked up the edges with the edge of the inkpad. After I had done this, I used a sponge and just lightly dabbed the area between the Pumpkin Pie & Bravo Burgundy....this helps to get that graduated blend of colour.

To represent the 'Pool Party' I got one of Stampin' Up!'s lovely Antique Brads which has a slight verdigris finish anyway. To bring out the colour a bit more, I sponged Pool Party ink over the brad and used my Pool Party marker to fill in those little gaps. It doesn't quite show in the photo but it looks lovely!!

I then layered my image onto Bravo Burgundy textured card stock and then onto Very Vanilla textured cardstock as the card base.

I would have NEVER chosen to use these colours if I was working to my own preferences, but that is the absolute beauty of colour challenges. They really do challenge you to think in different ways about your colours and how they 'work'. I encourage you to have a go....send me a link to your card or email me a photo! I'll put it on my blog for you. :)

Cheers & happy stampin'

Birthday Bakery Watercolouring

Dear Everyone

I was inspired to do some watercolouring for some Birthday cards that I was making for some fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators. I know "Birthday Bakery" is a retired set but it is so much fun to play with.

I got inspiration for the layout of the card from the
Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge #179 and the colours from Colour Q Challenge #127 . The colours are Certainly Celery, Calyspso Coral, Blushing Bride & Chocolate Chip. When I read those colours on the challenge blog....I immediately saw cake! :)

I enjoyed making the first card so much, I made a few of them, and then I made a variation on it and did a card for a colleague at work who wanted a card for her sister-in-law. She mentioned 'purples'....so I did Birthday Bakery in Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Concord Crush, Bravo Burgundy and Crumb Cake! I coloured the glimmer paper in Wisteria Wonder just to tie it all in.
Hope you enjoy the cards....watercolouring really is AWESOME! If you would like to order any of the supplies I used to make these cards, just give me a call or email me. Remember there are still a couple of weeks left of Sale-A-Bration so if your order is $100 or more, you will earn free stamps! :)

Boho Backgrounds

I am very lucky to have such generous friends who shower me with lovely gifts come birthday time. I thought I'd make some thank you cards for them.

I saw this colour challenge on Colour Q this week and thought I would try out the stained glass window technique on some vellum using one of the Boho Backgrounds stamps. I kept it all quite "clean & simple". I stamped the image onto vellum paper, coloured in with markers on the back then added a rhinestone in the middle. I hand drew the borders on the cardstock and the vellum.
Materials used:

Stamps: Boho Backgrounds, One of a Kind (sentiment)

Ink: Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise marker, Tangerine Tango marker, green marker (nonSU), Basic Black marker

Paper: Whisper White CS, Vellum paper

Accessories: Turquoise Rhinestone (non SU)
