Hi
Welcome to this week's Artful Stampers blog hop....you would have hopped here from Jane Riches' blog.
I know "Lotus Blossom" is getting a huge work out in the Stampin' Up! blogosphere and on Pinterest at the moment...so I hope you haven't tired of it yet.
I wanted to use the stamp set in a different way...and show the complete Lotus plant...but limit myself to one stamp set.
I was also inspired by Less is More to do a One Layer Card with a New Beginning theme. I will explain....
Firstly, I know this isn't strictly a One Layer Card....it was in the start....but I just felt the stamped layer needed to be mounted on another white base so I cropped it.
Secondly...the new beginning is that often when I create cards, I am creating for a card challenge or my color coach challenge. The cards I make go into a box and I sell them at work or I do give a lot as birthday cards etc. I know it sounds odd, but I rarely make a card for a person in mind...the priority is usually to the creative challenge or the stamp set. So my resolution and new beginning for 2015 is to make more cards for people....and not just my blog. Naturally I will take inspiration from blog challenges and new stamps, but this year I want to be inspired by the person as well. I'm sure this is second nature to many of you....and that's not to say I never make a card for a friend or family member, because I do...and they are very personal and special but, for 2015, I wish to make MORE cards with people in mind....so this card is going to this guy.

I'm getting back to basics here...one stamp.....five colours. Simple.

Here are the beautiful colours that we worked with this week.
I used the smallest flower petals stamp and stamped it in layers in Wild Wasabi for the base leaves of the lotus flower. Then I partially inked the stem to make it shorter. The flower itself is Blackberry Bliss for the outer petals, Rich Razzleberry for the mid-petals and the base is Blushing Bride 'rocked and rolled' in Rose Red so the edges of the stamp were darker.
Here's an image I found of the Lotus flower in bloom....so beautiful!
