Stampin' Up! Fathers Day Card - 'Dynamic Duos' and 'Clean & Simple'

Hello!
I don't know what the weather is like in your part of the world, but it is freezing cold here in Brisbane. When I say freezing cold, it is about 10 degrees....but when one considers that most houses in Brisbane, Australia have paper-thin walls to accomodate the scorching summers.....my house lets ALL the cold in!

...which means I spend most evenings next to my heater playing with my Stampin' Up! goodies!!! :)

Anyway...I have discovered a fabulous new blog challenge called Dynamic Duos. I played along last week and I gave it another go this week, since their colours for the Monochromatic Challenge week are Early Espresso and Crumb Cake!! I also thought the sketch this week for Clean & Simple Stamping was pretty cool too, so I made a Fathers Day card! :)

Hope you like it! I used the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background and a Framelit for the sentiment panel (also using a NEW product which will be available in Australia on 1st September!!!). To get the lighter colour on my little 'cups', I stamped off the Early Espresso once onto paper before stamping the second time onto the Very Vanilla cardstock. My little banners are Early Espresso textured cardstock and some Crumb Cake smooth cardstock which I ran through the Crimper. I used my 1" square punch to make the banner ends nice & neat. :)

btw....I will be using this 'banner' technique in my next card class which is this Sunday, so if you are in the Brisbane area and want to come along, just email me or call me on 0413 405 139 for the details. Cost is $20 for 6 cards.

Byee!!!

Festive Friday Challenge #29 - Stampin' Up! Button Buddies

Hello Stampin' friends!

Today's Festive Friday Challenge card plays with the colours of Melon Mambo, Lucky Limeade and Tempting Turquoise.....bright & fun!

For my card, I used my acrylic block for some 'colour blocking'....I stamped it off twice onto my grid paper then stamped on to the cardstock. I found that the blocks pick up a lot of colour so the only way to make them a bit more 'transparent' is to stamp them off a couple of times. I used the cute snowman from Stampin' Up! Button Buddies to stamp the images on each 'block'. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. I wanted to get a bit of a 1950s/ 1960s look with the card.....thoughts??? Is it too clean & simple? I made another card with a Basic Black mat layer around the main image but it drew away from the 'lightness' of the card so I went with all white and no matting.

Materials used:
Stamps - Button Buddies, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Ink - Melon Mambo, Lucky Limeade, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black
Cardstock - Whisper White
Tools - Stampin' Up! Acrylic Block, Stamp-a-majig, Corner Rounder Punch, Paper Cutter, Dimensionals

Stampin' Up! Mixed Bunch - Dynamic Duos #12

Hello!

There is a wonderful new challenge blog called Dynamic Duos .It is really cool....check it out!

This week's Dynamic Duo Challenge is Poppy Parade + Basic Black with a 'dessert option' of punches.

For my card, I used the Scandinavian design from Stampin' Up! Mixed Bunch....I like this stamp as it reminds me of Kikki K stationery, or something that you might see on an Ikea cushion! :)

I layered this punch onto a 'sneak peek' stamp (yet to be released here in Australia, but not long now if you can hold out until 1st September). I was lucky enough to receive this stamp set at Convention back in May. :)

This was going to be a very Clean & Simple card, but to continue the 'punches' theme,  I had thought of doing a ribbon banner with punched out windows, so I used my Itty Bitty Punches and a strip of Basic Black cardstock and punched out a series of them. I layered this onto some Basic Black satin ribbon.

I haven't added a sentiment as I thought I'd keep my options open....plus it would just be my luck to smudge the last thing that I stamped, so I thought I would quit while I was ahead!! LOL!

Hope you like my card!! :)

Materials used:
Stamps - Mixed Bunch + "I can't tell you yet!!!"
Ink - Poppy Parade, Basic Black
Cardstock - Whisper White, Basic Black
Accessories - Basic Black Glimmer Brad, Basic Black Satin Ribbon
Tools - Blossom Punch, Itty Bitty Punches, Mat Pack, Dimensionals, Multipurpse Liquid Glue, Paper Trimmer

Festive Friday Challenge #27 - Stampin' Up! Vintage Wallpaper Christmas Card

Hello!
Today's card for the Festive Friday Challenge is all about using ribbon in an unconventional way. For my card, I decided to make a rectangular panel of ribbon and then embellish it.

To make the main panel, I wound my Pear Pizzazz ribbon around a piece of cardboard that had adhesive applied. I then got my brayer and inked it up with Concord Crush and brayered the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. I put my ribbon panel in the embossing folder carefully, then I ran it through the Big Shot. It comes out not only embossed but dyed as well!!! It's an AWESOME EFFECT!!.....dig that brayer out and give it a go! :)

I mounted it on a piece of Concord Crush (which was embossed with the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder and swiped with Frost White Shimmer Paint), which was then mounted on Whisper White & Pear Pizzazz cardstock. The sentiment circle is from Perfect Punches.

Hope you like my card! :)

Materials used:
Stamps - Perfect Punches
Ink - Concord Crush, Versamark (for edge of card base)
Cardstock - Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Concord Crush, Silver Glimmer Paper
Accessories - Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon
Tools - Vintage Wallpaper & Framed Tulips Embossing Folders, SNAIL, Sponge Daubers, Big Shot, Paper Cutter, 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

PS - I am holding my next Stampin' Up! card making class on Sunday 5 August in Brisbane - if you are interested, please call me or email. Cost is $20 for 6 cards. :)

Stampin' Up! Aviary - Sunny Challenges & Creations

Hi!

Today's card is inspired by the sketch and colour combo from the team at Sunny Challenges & Creations .

The colours to be used were Chocolate Chip and Old Olive (plus a neutral) and here is my card:

I went with a fairly "clean & simple" look....and I quite like the textured Very Vanilla panels against the smooth Very Vanilla card base.

Ink: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Cardstock: Very Vanilla (smooth & textured), Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Pearls, Old Olive 1 1/4 striped grosgrain ribbon (retired)
Tools: Big Shot, Designer Frames Texured Impressions Embossing folder, Paper Snips, 1" circle punch, Paper Cutter
